Wacky Weather

Valdosta, Valdosta, Valdosta…. this crazy weather has got to stop.  Day one freezing, everyone has on winter coats. Day two burning up, everyone has on shorts. Day three raining, everyone has on rainboots. Day four I’m sick because of all these changes !  I do not think I have ever lived in a place where the weather was this wacky.  So the only advice I have for valdosta people is to be prepared for all seasons at all times.

The Remake Age

Guys, we are getting old.  All the movies that we have seen as children growing up are now all being remade.  Willy Wonka, Hair Spray, Footloose, Fright Night, Tron, and many more.  It has even been rumored that a new Wizard of Oz is about to hit big screens.  Some people are for the remakes and some are against it.  I am on the fence.  I am all for a remake if it does the original movie any justice.  As for the greatest of the great they should not be touched at all.

Romeo, Romeo ??

I am a hopeless romantic and movies like When Harry Met Sally, The Notebook, and Pretty Woman are all classics that I have fell in love with.  These past few years the romantic movie department has been slacking.  Romances have been replaced with “Romantic Comedies” and in those movies there is more comedy than romance.  Don’t get me wrong I love a good laugh but the sleeping around and one night stands are anything but romantic.  I want to see the characters fall in love not just wake up together the next morning.  Bring back Romeo !

Barbie Girl

Is it me or are girlie girls taking their girliness to a whole new level.  Pink lipstick, pink clothes, glitter, sparkles, eyelashes, bright hair are all taking over the streets.  I think that the biggest influencers of this latest trend are Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, and Lady Gaga.  There are more and more outrageous outfits and heels being worn and those three ladies are the most seen wearing them.  For a celebrity I feel it is fine and dandy but for all the unfamous girls over 18 I think they need to tone it down a bit.  Having 2 inch eyelashes is a sure way to get a job…Not ! It is just a bit over the top for me. That is all.

Horrible Teachers?

Recently watched Horible Bosses and since I am not working right now I began to think about my horrible teachers.  I had a few great teachers this semester (one of them being Norman Earls 😉 ) but I had a good amount of horrible ones as well.  There are a few things that you can do to avoid getting Horrible Teachers.  Rate A professor is a good website that tells you about teachers and you get to hear it right from students.  Also talking to students around campus ofr student assistants and Student success center workers.  You can also tell a little bit about a professor by their syllabas.  And one other way is to just go to the class if you see they don’t rub you the right way drop it asap and find another teacher.  Well I hope you all have great teachers next semester.

NEW YEARS !

The new year is almost here ! Time to start those lists of thing we want to change or things we want to do.  Herre are a few keys to help thoses goals really happen. One is to keep the list simple and have small goals. Two is to put them Everywhere so you can be reminded. And three is make your lists with a friend so you all can stay on each other throughout the year.  Have a Happy New Year !!

Got the hook up?

Today your skills can only take you so far.  If you want to get far you have to have connections.  Just recently I applied for a job in where I had experience as well as the required items that the job requested; a friend of mine was applying for the same job.  She had no experience nor did she bring any of the requested items.  But what she did have was CONNECTIONS.  She knew the manager and most of the staff.  In the end she was the one that got the job.   Also recently I applied to a pizza place, I am sure many applicants worked in the food industry before but I had not.  I ended up getting hired because my dad new the manager, so my connections got me the job.   That is why in this economy we have to network, network, network! Because trust me the saying ” it’s not what ya know it’s who ya know” is so true.

Midterms, Test , Exams–Oh My !

The semester is coming close to the end and students are being bombarded with exams. One way to make this process a little easier is to STUDY ! Studying helps so much and can make a big difference in test results..trust me I know. I was the queen of not studying and I barely got by. I try to study a lot more now and it shows in my grade. Even when I study a little bit, that little bit makes a difference. So get out your books, turn up the classical music or hit up a tutor because the test are coming !!

Santa?

Christmas season is coming up which means that it is time for gifts.  This season is fun for those who are in relationships and knows that their loved ones will be getting them gifts as well as them giving gifts.  But for those of us who do not have are own families and are not in relationships, this season could be something that we are not looking foward to.  There is a solution to that problem though.  Let us all get together as singles and have a Secret Santa.  Find all of your single friends and have them pull names from the Santa hat.  Then you can all right down 5 things that you want that is under 30 bucks or change the cap based on your financial status.  The person who picked your name will buy an item from your list and then you all can echange Christmas eve.  Doing this little fun activity will give singles something to look foward to for the holiday seasons.  So I hope you all have fun giving and recieving gifts….Who knows santa may just give you a mate 😉

Hump Month

A common saying in today’s society is “hump day.”  Which means it is usually wednesday, the middle of the week.  Most people feel once they get over this day the rest of the week will fly by.  Well I believe as a college student we have “hump month.”  Hump Month is October.  August and September are boring slow months and they spill over into October as well.  But if students can get through October, months November and December will be smooth and fly by.  Hump Month is approaching us quickly so keep pressing on, stay focused and try to have a little fun, the worst of it is almost over. Oh and hump day is tomorrow so also be looking foward to the weekend !
